Abstract
This article explores the notion that many, but not all, choreographic installations generate the conditions for performative events. It discusses choreographic installations in the context of performative installations from the visual arts and dance. In examining different forms of choreographic installation, it explores different meanings of the term 'performativity', proposing 'strong' and 'weak' usages in the context of the term 'performative installation'.
