Abstract
This qualitative study investigates physiotherapists' perceptions of positive patient experiences in quality care and compares them to patients' perceptions. Six physiotherapists from the Isle of Wight NHS Trust were purposively sampled and interviewed either face to face or remotely using Microsoft Teams. Thematic analysis was employed to identify main themes, and the results showed that physiotherapists mostly shared similar views to patients on positive patient experiences. However, a difference emerged as physiotherapists preferred not involving family and caregivers in the physiotherapy process, while patients believed this involvement improved their quality of care experiences. Physiotherapists also emphasized the importance of managing patients' expectations, noting that older patients preferred simplistic information and a passive approach to treatment, whereas younger patients sought in depth information and active treatment approaches. The study also identified a new theme, 'physiotherapists qualities,' encompassing attributes such as professionalism, positive attitude, competence, education, and motivation, which were considered essential in providing positive patient experiences. The findings have practical implications for physiotherapists and healthcare organizations, enabling them to offer tailored services that meet patients' needs effectively. Understanding physiotherapists' perspectives is crucial in enhancing overall patient satisfaction and quality of care.
