This chapter provides a biography of both the charity-cum-drinking fraternity "Ye Ancient Order of Froth Blowers", which existed from 1924-31, and its founders, relating these stories to the broader issue of how members of Britain's middle class sought to define themselves in relation to major contemporary issues such as public service, patriotism, respectability and the Drink Question, in the wake of the First World War.
