Abstract

This research paper is an evaluation of the factors affecting employee wellbeing at
Quattro Plant (QP) in the Southeast to provide recommendations for a strategy to
increase employee wellbeing. The topic of employee wellbeing was chosen by the
researcher due to the construction industry having problems with wellbeing, with the
industry having some of the highest levels of suicide.
As the research paper is placement based, only those working at QP in the
Southeast were included in the data collection. To gain as much scope as possible
regarding the topic of employee wellbeing, the researcher conducted inductive
qualitative interviews, and a deductive quantitative questionnaire. As this paper only
focuses on those in the Southeast, a total of seven interviews were conducted, and
49 respondents to the questionnaire.
The questionnaire and interviews explored several factors that affect the wellbeing of
employees at QP, including happiness, Covid-19, relationships formed at work,
nutrition, stigma, awareness of statistics etc. Whilst this research paper does not
pinpoint exactly one factor that affects the wellbeing of employees at QP, it breaks
the results into site and office-based employees to gain a further understanding of
how the categories have different thoughts, feelings and experiences surrounding
the topic of employee wellbeing. Realistic recommendations surrounding the topics
of benefit schemes, flexible working and further research are also explored.
Further investigation into the topic of employee wellbeing at QP is needed to
understand the differing opinions between site and office-based employees.
