Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the benefits of high-quality literature on children’s writing in the classroom. A year 6 class, their teacher and the head of English’s views and opinions of this topic were investigated through interviews, questionnaires and field notes. The findings indicated that all participants agree reading, and the amount someone reads, benefits children’s writing. The research concludes by underlining the importance of having high-quality literature throughout the school for children to use as examples and models for their own writing as well as having teaching professionals who encourage a contagious love of reading.
