Full text not available from this repository.Abstract
Presented at several festivals, including 'Latitudes Maghreb', La Villette, Paris, 'Maâlem Experience' was a collaboration with Gnawa master, Mahmoud Gania, and a team of multidisciplinary artists. Developing multimedia scenography and new media to stage the performance, this collaboration with an African performer contributed to debate on the relationship of tradition and avant-garde technology, exploring ways of retaining the integrity of traditional artistic practice within the context of modernity. The visual concept created a rhythmical play of digital choreography controlled in real-time in performance.
