Abstract
This essay develops a mythopoetic critique of materialism. Proposing the ancient symbol of the World Tree as a metaphor for a post-pandemic new world order worth constructing, I trace the roots of the symbol in world religions and propose it as an image of emergent political and economic systems. I also consider scientific data concerning the consciousness of trees, and what that might suggest for a post-materialist worldview.
