Abstract
The world today has access to more information than ever before. This means that investors can make more informed decisions and have access to the same information and those around them. It also means that when there is uncertainty, the doubt can have a downward spiral effect on the economy. This results in financial uncertainty and a recession.
It might not be possible for a single person to prevent a recession, but it is possible to prepare for one. Therefore, this paper will provide a guide for investors on recession resistant stock investment options by analysing the factors that influence share values and profits.
The research includes historic data from 2008-2014 and also consists of a survey to relate the findings to the 2019 economy. The conclusion of this thesis best describes the recommendations for investors.
