Abstract
To date research looking into benchmarking and sport is sparse. Benchmarking is very common within businesses but it seems to have not reached sport. The aim of this study was to compare a number of cricketers technical KPIs with the top rank players in the Royal London One Day Cup and the England benchmarks and see how each player ranked. By using normative profiling each of the players stats who were selected for the analysis were grouped in a Microsoft Excel file where their stats were compared against the top players based in and the England benchmarks. This showed how they ranked on each KPI. This study showed that a number of the selected players ranked fairly highly in some of the KPIs but this was not a consistent theme. The majority of the players ranked quite poorly against the English based player that was understandable as the team, which all the players were selected from, performed very poorly throughout the competition in the last four years.
