Abstract
In this dissertation, I am going to analyse and compare the teaching of mathematics in the younger years between the countries Britain and Canada. By analysing the reforms issued and the ideals behind the mathematics reasoning, we can find the basic principles that the public are expected to adhere to. For instance, students are expected to be above average in international league tables, and if they happen to be below, there are measures put in place to get them above the average. The study of early mathematics is highly significant, as mathematics achievement can be linked to future success.
