Abstract
This thesis aims to discuss a deeper understanding of the body and being in relation to a
dance practice, culminating in the performance of a new solo created originally from a written
score devised by Deborah Hay. The research grows out of my curiosity in the potential of
awareness in motion, with the intention to invigorate a choreographic practice and enhance
what it is to perform.
