Abstract

In association with The Point and New Dimensions in Dance – a strand of the venue which focuses on creating an inclusive landscape in dance performance – KJ will now focus on the six-month project Grad-Lab. This scheme has been created to aid the development of graduate artists, away from an educational backdrop, supporting the next generation of dancing talent. KJ said:

“Grad-Lab will facilitate two graduate choreographers’ from the South regions to make performance work on recent graduate dance performers alongside one administrative role.

“The project aims to allow the choreographer to make the first draft of work to show once out of university - the project will develop the graduate's own artistic voice and pathway outside of study.”

Grad-Lab is a pivotal new project, created to support emerging dance artists in their first steps towards a desired career pathway. KJ is a dance teacher, artist, producer and choreographer, and works across many styles of the performance discipline, which widens her understanding of the form. Grad-Lab will cover all pivotal bases for the graduates who take part and will see extra support from The Point’s Creative Producer Sacha Lee, choreographic training from experts at Lila Dance and marketing seminars from The Point’s dedicated team of industry professionals.
