I attended the University of Sussex as a postgraduate where I completed a DPhil on the work of Georges Bataille. Since 2000 I have worked at the University of Chichester, teaching in the English department. I have written four monographs: Georges Bataille: A Critical Introduction (2000), The Culture of Death (2005), The Persistence of the Negative: A Critique of Contemporary Continental Theory (2010), and Malign Velocities: Accelerationism and Capitalism (2014). I have edited the collection Communization and Its Discontents (2011). I am also working on a major book project provisionally titled AntiLife: The Politics of Vitalism in Contemporary Theory.
