Abstract
Inspired by the work of Mary Peace and her article The Magdalen Hospital and the Fortunes of Whiggish Sentimentality in mid-Eighteenth Century Britain, this study will be following the influence of eighteenth-century sensibility on the mid-century philanthropists that brought the ideas of charitable aid into the realm of the prostitution industry.
