Abstract

This project set out to explore the effectiveness of questioning during a mathematics lesson and link this to my own practice during my third year placement at a secondary school. The project has collected data from 13 lessons across 3 classes and will analyse my use of questioning and the impact this had on the learning of my students. The results stated that my questioning contains key elements already explored by researchers which help students gain a deeper understanding of the concepts that are trying to be taught, it also discovered that my questioning is regularly used for behaviour management purposes.
