Abstract

This study aimed to explore why there is an evident shortage of male primary school teachers within the UK. The research included the views of 64 current staff from primary schools in the South of England and used a combination of questionnaires and interviews to collect data. The data showed a number of common themes to suggest why there is a lack of male primary school teachers; working with children, salary and managerial roles within primary education.
