Abstract

I explored the correlation between emotion and colour in children’s drawings. The four participants aged between three and five years were read three different children’s books, all exploring the relationship between emotion and colour. I asked the children to draw what they thought characters in the books felt. I then enquired with some questions afterwards asking what they had drawn and why. It was unsure whether or not the drawings would prove a relationship between colour and emotion. After carrying out my research, I discovered that this area of study is very complex and there are many disparities in opinions of interpretations. This highlights that more research needs to be conducted in order to strengthen the correlation between emotion and colour.
